Oregon's Willamette Valley has been valued for its fertile river valley land for centuries. Attracting settlers by the thousands during the mid 1800s, the farming tradition continues on today. Here on the Wooden Shoe Farm tulip blooms bring on a mass of color, creating one of the most magical settings in the world. Each year tulips are rotated to create new patterns, providing visitors with vast swaths of brilliant color.
   The Iverson family began growing tulips 35 years ago, expanding operations every year. Still a family oriented business, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is now the largest spring event in Oregon.
   For the men-folk, a manly assemblage of Russell Steam Powered tractors is fired up during the tulip festival. It's an unwritten law that men cannot be drawn to a flower festival without something made of steel, producing some type of noise, or something that's at the very least mechanical. Here at Wooden Shoe, these vintage Russell steam tractors fit the bill. Although the power plant is only 8 horsepower, the highly geared tractor couldn't be stopped. Russell & Company was initially started by three brothers, producing thousands of threshing machines, tractors, sawmills and steam rollers. The folks at the Farm are pleased to show off this line-up of steam-powered Russell tractors.
   The Wooden Shoe Farm, famous for its springtime flower show, also kicks off a pumpkin fest in late September. Corn mazes, a giant hay maze and cow trains are among the family fun activities. This fall, come and pick out your pumpkin, enter a ducky race or enjoy a hayride.
